Abstract: The article presents the results of modern trends and structural-dynamic changes analysis in the development of light industry enterprises in Ukraine in order to identify the most acute problems and negative factors that influence further development of the industry. This provided opportunities for identifying the main directions and mechanisms for restoration and further development of the industry, which could serve as a basis for building effective strategies and identifying long-term prospects for the development of light industry.

The most important factors that adversely affect the development of light industry are the low level of innovation technologies of the greater share of light industry enterprises, the slow pace of technological reequipment of production, caused by financial insolvency of enterprises and loss of investor intensity; the reduction of the volume of the domestic industry raw material base, even necessary for the first time resources for production, led to the dependence of domestic enterprises in the procurement of raw materials from foreign producers; a high proportion of imported light industrial goods imported at low customs value and smuggling, creating unfair competition to domestic enterprises in the domestic market; The low purchasing power of the population is usually due to unsustainable political and economic factors.

In accordance with the main directions of further development of light industry can be attributed: the primary need for modernization of fixed assets of light industry enterprises; comprehensive promotion of the development of its own raw material base for the production of clothing and footwear, reducing the pressure of imports; effective protection of the Ukrainian manufacturer of light industry products from uncontrolled import of goods sold under shadow schemes; defending the interests of the domestic producer in public administration and local government.
