Анотація: У статті досліджено теоретико-методологічні основи терміна «розвиток» та описано постулати теорії розвитку від моменту її зародження до сучасності. Для розуміння природи виникнення терміна та його сутності проведено ретроспективний аналіз вкладу філософських учень, які розвивали теорію розвитку, спрощували її або заперечували. Наведено змістовну частину терміна «розвиток» у межах офіційного тлумачення у вітчизняних словниках, довідниках та енциклопедіях. Дослідження доповнено постулатами теорії розвитку, які зустрічаються в закордонних англомовних виданнях наукового характеру. Результати дослідження поглибили теоретико-методологічну основу терміна «розвиток» та є базовим етапом для подальших досліджень щодо вивчення теоретико-методологічних основ терміна «економічний розвиток».
Abstract: The article examines the theoretical and methodological foundations of the term «development» and describes the postulates of the theory of development from the moment of its inception to the present day. To understand the nature of the origin of the term and its essence, a retrospective analysis of the contribution of philosophical teachings that developed the theory of development, simplified it or denied it was conducted. In particular, the schools of dialectics that contributed significant philosophical teachings in the context of understanding the development and functioning of the world, moving from the form of the spontaneous dialectics of ancient philosophers to idealistic, historical and neoclassical dialectics, are analyzed. It is revealed that historically characteristic features of classical dialectics have been formed, which allowed us to better understand the essence of development. The study also presents the contribution to the development of the term of such philosophical trends as alternative dialectics (neo-Thomist analects and synergetic), neoclassical concepts of dialectics and other varieties of metaphysics. The substantive part of the term within the official interpretation in domestic dictionaries, reference books and encyclopedias is also given. The author drew attention to the place of the term «development» in the interpretation of certain foreign words, in particular such as evolution, history, investment, progress, ontogenesis, economic integration. The study is supplemented with the postulates of the theory of development, which are found in foreign English-language scientific publications. In particular, about 95 publications in such areas as business and management, technology and medicine, education and social sciences were analyzed. The results of the study deepened the theoretical and methodological basis of the term «development» and are a basic stage for further research on the study of the theoretical and methodological foundations of the term «economic development», which will be published in subsequent studies.
